Page 1 of 2 Howie Day is an American singer-songwriter. Day has been known for his extensive touring and in-concert use of samplers and effects pedals in order to accompany himself.

Ultimately, what you need to have what he has, is a un-powered mixer, a mic with either a DI converter, or just a XLR to 1/4 jack, which will allow you to plug the mic straight into these "guitar" pedals that he has. The mixer allows you to be more flexible and specific with regards to the mic and guitar, and ultimate dictation of the amps/PA system you are using. It's relatively easy, you just need to learn about the equipment specifically, and you'll pick it up pretty fast.
