TOPIC: Setup Help

Setup Help 10 years 1 month ago #583

I was wondering if anyone had any advice to give me about how to get a Thomas Erak (The Fall of Troy)or Claudio Sanchez (Coheed and Cambria)sound without buying Budda or Orange amps. I'm kinda on a tight budget and would like some help. I haven't an amp atm so I'm starting from nothing. Any suggestions?

Hey there Gothic Teddybear. Nice to have you on the site! Here's an idea - what about a used Orange Tiny Terror (or dual terror) amp? It would get you the Orange name, but with a less fancy package, and good portability. How many watts do you need? The dual terror is louder. Would the Tiny Terror work? You can get them for $300-400 used.
BTW - I have a Budda Super Drive 30 :)

Re:Setup Help 10 years 1 month ago #585

Well, thank you!

I need enough to light up a bar or club. I'm looking for a gigging rig.

Jealousy over the Budda Super Drive... I want that exact one lol.

What's the budget looking like for this amp?

Re:Setup Help 10 years 1 month ago #587

About $1200. Is it even possible? Haha

Dude. You can easily get a Budda SD-18 for that price! Does that include cabinet too, or is there extra budget for cab?

fyi - you could also get an Orange Rocker 30 (head or combo) for right around that price, used. Also, fyi, the Budda 18 is supposed to be really loud too.

Re:Setup Help 10 years 1 month ago #590

I need a head and a cab for 12. No extra room :( I've been debating on the dual terror, a ppc112, and ts9dx. Will this be loud enough and get me the right sound?

I don't have too much experience buying amps. I've only been playing for 7 years and it's been through a gt6 and a 110 crate practice amp. I shred the crap out of it too, lol.

Re:Setup Help 10 years 1 month ago #591

Playing shows before has always been "Hey, bro. Can I borrow your amp?" Haha, I'm trying to fix that

I'll tell you what. The new Peavey 6505 1x12 combo looks pretty hot and it would save you a ton of money. Heck, enough $ to get a new guitar if you needed one! Checkout this video review: www.youtube.com/watch?v=CC2VoL_k4Zg

If you really want an orange or budda, then the Budda Superdrive 18 combo is in your price range (used in like new from musicians friend), and the rocker 30 combo used is close too.
