Hi there was just wondering what are the other most used things because i have a client who is after the coldplay sound for the guitars in his recording. I have the proco whiteface rat and the phase 90 but was wondering if the line6 was mandatory. Also does he use the ts9 much?
many thanks felix

I'm sure just about any other delay will do the trick, really, His sound mostly has to do with mic placement, recording tricks, etc.

I'm not exactly sure how much he uses his TS9, there are a few pictures online (search "Johnny buckland gear") that features what pedals/fx he used for certain songs in that particular gig.

You should be fine, as most of his sound comes from what you already have.

I'm a big coldplay fan, unlike many. I'll tell you that he uses the line 6 DL4's more than anything else on his board. he has Four. Two for onstage, one backup, and one for looping. Second, his Phase 90, as heard in "Don't panic" and "Fix You", is tied for second with his RAT, which is NOT a RAT II, but a vintage as stated. it is used for pretty much any above-mild dirt heard in coldplay. for instance, he used it on heavy settings in "Violet Hill", accompanied by his EHX Polyphonic Octaver. Don't let the OCD Fool you, it was used to replace a MXR Micro amp. which basically states that it is used as a boost, as shown in pics of his rig. His Ebow is used on "amsterdam" and "spies" for those of you wondering.

Can we get the amps he uses corrected? He doesn't use 4X10's he uses the smaller 2X12's. This is according to Buckland's guitar tech, Matt McGinn in his book 'Roadie'

Also according to the book he uses a Marshall Plexi, I assume for some of the 'heavier' songs in Viva La Vida.

Lately, as in a couple days ago, Jonny has been seen using a handful of stratocasters as his main guitars. As far as current effects - no idea.

No longer on his board, but should be included in this section is his tonebender, forget the company name, but he used it in the "X&Y" Era board.

In his current board, he is using a Guyatone micro chorus.

:woohoo: That Eventide 7600 processor is $3,995 before tax! That thing better be not only the best piece of equipment that makes his guitar sound the most amazing thing ever, it also better be an ATM machine that spits out money at him whenever he plays it!

By now, Jonny has got 7 to 8 Telecaster Thinline guitars. some of them are painted newly. but he recently sold some again! he had 2 Tele Donahues, a L.P.Blue one and a Black one. the latter one was also sold. the Gibson ES335 actually belongs to his band mate chris martin, but jonny also owns a "Gretsch Chet Atkins Gentlemen 6122-62" as seen at Glastonbury'05. his rickenbacker is a 360/12 model.
