Stephen Carpenter is the lead guitarist and occasional multi-instrumentalist in Deftones.

Carpenter has a side project called Kush, featuring Christian and Raymond from Fear Factory and B-Real from Cypress Hill. Carpenter also recently formed a second side project called Sol Invicto that is described as metal meets drum and bass.

Kilo25  - Tunings   |2010-08-27 00:57:26
Here's a list of the tunings used in each Deftones album.

(the first three albums were recorded using 6-strings)

Adrenaline= E Standard

Around the Fur= Drop C#

White Pony= Drop C

(At
this point, Steph switched to his 7-string baritones)

Deftones= G# Standard 7-string variant

Saturday Night Wrist= Drop F# 7-string variant, for the exception of "Beware" which is in G#
Standard

(he began using 8-strings after Saturday Night Wrist, and first recorded with them on the postponed Eros album)

Diamond Eyes= F# Standard 8-string variant

Chino Moreno, when he
plays guitar, is tuned to Drop C for songs off White Pony, and C# Standard for the songs from Deftones and Saturday Night Wrist

Hope you guys found this informative!

Nick  - 8-strings   |2010-03-16 15:26:15
He has a signature 8 string he uses now.

B-rad  - Subs   |2010-01-06 11:30:32
He also uses subs with the 75 watt loaded Marshall cabs you can see them in the picture of him above the make and size I do not know they look like powered dual 12's or 15's. He has an A and B set up
with the one set up he uses 80 watt speakers with no subs the other the 75 watt speakers with subs. He also has custom foot switching on all the effects so they are all independent from the the signal
so unless they are engaged they are not filtered through the output for clarity and sound quality purposes.
