surely he uses the bass versions of the pedals, eg the Bass Big Muff Pi and Dunlop Bass Crybaby

Why does flea use a DI pre effects and post effects instead of running directly to the 2001RB? Whats the difference between the whirlwind DI and a standard active DI, and why use both?

libanass, that's an interesting recording... sounds very accurate. Would you like to check what MM Lane Poor model is your pickup? I'm very interested!

On the behind of the pickup is engraved the model of each one. There are 4 MM different models. All are noted as MM of course, a number for a number of strings and the last marking is the model.
Can you please tell me what model is yours?

MM4HB
MM4DW
MM4DN or
MM4DV

Thanks :D

Only with a modulus flea bass with lane poor pickups and a badass bridge, with fresh new strings would get you that sound
and hands of cours
here's a soundclip I did with mine, but my computer can't receive my full bass sound, it sounds exactely like by the way on my amp with fresh new strings

No, he used a WAL Custom MKII during the recordings of BSSM and a MM Stingray on stage.

Fleas sound is mainly not treated by any effect pedal. The sound comes from his finger style. Get a GK amp and a Modulus bass and you should be fine.

Great job guys! But, can anyone help me with this... How can I get the sound that he uses on by the way song? He uses that sound on concerts a lot. Many songs.. What pedal is that? Thanks. Boss ODB-3 Bass Overdrive? MXR Micro Amp? Sorry "not knowing anything" :-) but Im not really into pedals. I use precision bass and yamaha bass stage 150 amp. Its good, but thats it... :P
