Well , both. I have one, and it was amazing when I got it, but I was influenced to get them because my favorite band (Atreyu, see avatar
) uses them, and so does Metallica, Rammstein, Children Of Bodom, and a lot of my favorite metal musicians.
The guitar center I am nearest to doesn't carry ESP. They could only sell the cheap copies, normally, and since it was a Japanese-based guitar company it was harder to get a hold of than most brands.
